Her research focuses on the mechanisms responsible for skeletal muscle atrophy and injury. Anicca also serves as the Chief of Community Development for #VanguardSTEM [https://www.vanguardstem.com/]: Conversations for Women of Color in STEM,  an online community that asserts the right of women, girls and non-binary people of color in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) fields to fully represent our STEM identities and interests, without assimilation.
