Barry Morphew appeared in Alamosa County Court Monday for his arraignment on first-degree murder charges in the death of his wife Suzanne Morphew. Barry was arrested in Arizona in June 2025 following a grand jury indictment from the 12th Judicial District. An autopsy revealed the presence of BAM — butorphanol, azaperone, and medetomidine — a tranquilizer used on wildlife. According to the indictment, Barry was the only private citizen in that region with access to BAM. Prosecutors allege Suzanne wanted a divorce, had been having a two-year affair, and sent Barry a text saying "I'm done" just four days before she vanished. Barry maintains his innocence. His attorney says the evidence hasn't changed and neither will the outcome.
