Over There Is Freedom
As a kid, I dreamed of being independent, free, and answerable to no one. When I grew up, I worked hard to build a life just like that. However, as the seasons of life evolved, I realised how transient some of my ideas of freedom really were. I began to reflect: What does it mean to be truly free from the inside out? And can I experience freedom in a universe governed by universal laws? John 8:32 says, “The truth will make you free.” It struck me that truth was something I needed to know. Join me on this podcast as we journey into the profound question: What is “the truth” that has the power to set us free?

It is inspired by our family trip to the Acropolis in Athens this summer. In Acts 17, the Apostle Paul speaks to the philosophers of his time—around 46 to 50 A.D. He notices that the people of Athens are very spiritual and even worship “unknown gods.” In Paul’s address he points them to the real God, the one true source of all life. This episode, titled “What Sits on the Throne of Your Heart,” looks at this powerful and profound passage. An ambitious one for me to take on, but excited to share it with you.

In this episode, we’re talking about how to develop a hunger and a fire for God — especially when life is busy, and spiritual appetites are low. Our hunger is our responsibility. When we constantly fill up on distractions — even things that seem important — we lose our appetite for what truly nourishes us. Just like eating junk food can ruin your hunger for a healthy meal, a heart filled with noise won’t crave the stillness of His presence. What we sow grows. So I read from the parable of the sower — a story Jesus told about how the condition of our hearts, like soil, determines whether the seeds of God’s truth can take root or not. If you’ve been wondering how to grow spiritually or how to develop an appetite for the things of God, this episode is a gentle nudge to water the soil of your heart — and trust that He will meet you there.
Ever felt like God was holding out on you? I thought so too—until I saw what He was really doing! In this episode, we get real about the in-between seasons—those frustrating times when the promise hasn’t arrived and the future feels uncertain. I share how God uses waiting seasons to uncover the limiting beliefs that are holding us back from fully trusting Him. What if the delay isn’t a denial, but an invitation? An invitation to deeper surrender, deeper trust, and the kind of freedom that only comes when you realise that once you truly have Jesus, you have everything. If you’re still waiting on your “promised land”, this one’s for you—because maybe God’s not withholding, but rather preparing you for more than you ever imagined!
Have you ever worked tirelessly toward a goal, only to realise the cost was too high? Maybe your relationships suffered, or you ended up feeling drained and exhausted. In this episode on surrender, Lisa explores how waiting on God’s perfect timing leads to blessings that enrich our lives without added sorrow. She shares how, once we experience the presence of Jesus, the things we once clung to—whether a career, a relationship, the need for validation, or our own expectations—begin to lose their grip on us in the light of His presence, a far more secure and lasting source of hope. She illustrates this through the story of Moses. Feeling God’s call on his life, Moses took matters into his own hands and stepped outside of God’s timing. As a result, he was forced to flee into the wilderness, where he spent 40 years in exile. Then, in a powerful encounter, God appears to him in a burning bush and calls him back to his purpose. By this time, Moses has been humbled by life—he no longer sees himself as capable or qualified to fulfill God’s calling. Yet, it’s precisely in this state of humility that God moves most powerfully, using Moses to perform miracles, signs, and wonders. This story reminds us that God’s greatest work is never accomplished by our own strength. When the time is right, He Himself will bring His plans to pass.
