When Placemaking Goes Bad

Tray and I talk about some of the placemaking ideas that we really don't like.   join us on our high horse whilst we discuss those times when a placemaking idea hasn't worked. Don't worry, we have lots of laughs along the way and also have some great problem-solving suggestions too!   The main take-away from this episode is that doing something new is a risk. But risk taking is a good thing. Trying something new is a good thing. But always, always, always, include the community in big decisions. IGNORE AT YOUR PERIL!!!!! Creating Communities - The Radio Edition!

In this epiusode of Up My Street, we're talking to J-Man and Matt ((who also happens to be our podcast producer) about their community radio station, Micro Brew Radio. This is the perfect episode for anyone looking to build a community, no matter what it may look (or sound) like. Building creative communities doesnt always mean seeing people face top face. Thats not always possible for a range of reasons. What we love about this story is that it is super inclusive and open to everyone. The Radio Boys, as Tray and I call them, are bursting with ideas, experiences, enthusiasm and laughs. Its a great episode and we're so very lucky to have them on our team. Enjoy! Pizazz in your Place, our Conference Road Trip

We discuss the honest and open conversations and talks on the day, our takeaways and putting people and communities at the heart of decision making.   The topic of transport came up again – why have we not considered this before?! How to fund Placemaking projects. Placemaking visions changing overtime. Bravery in positions of power and influence. Stakeholder/bondholder involvement. How place stories evolve.   Some other key moments were Tilley’s really nice pen, fuzzy geography (and what that even means!) and sculpting stale bread.     ---------------------------------------- Hosted on Acast.
