Welcome to Episode #15 of the 4ever in Electric Dreams & CONFESSIONS OF A CURLY MIND co-production - Supple & Lean | A Geekcast. Presented by Imran Mirza from London, UK, and Vahé Vishapakagh Koshayan from Melbourne, Australia, for this episode we delve into the classic 90s series, Due South. Created by the esteemed Paul Haggis (screenwriter for the Oscar-winning Million Dollar Baby (2004) and Crash (2005), along with the James Bond films Casino Royale (2006) and Quantum of Solace (2008)), the show followed the adventures of Royal Canadian Mounted Police Constable Benton Fraser, who first comes to Chicago on the trail of the killers of his father, and has remained, attached as liaison with the Canadian Consulate while also working alongside a detective of the Chicago Police Department to solve crimes. The show ran between 1994-1999 and spawned four seasons. Part 1 of our Due South deep dive finds Vahé and Imran exploring the 22-part season 1 as they unpack the dynamics between its two incredible leads in Paul Gross and David Marciano, the show's fantastic music along with its excellent balance of comedy, drama and tinges of fantasy. Released on October 12, 1993, on Jive Records, the album peaked at number sixty-four on the Billboard 200 and number thirty-nine on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart. On January 14, 1994, the Recording Industry Association of America certified the album gold. Four singles reached the Billboard charts; "Boom! Shake the Room", "I'm Looking for the One (To Be with Me)", "I Wanna Rock", and "Can't Wait to Be with You". 90s State of Mind #26: "Erykah Badu: Mama's Gun"

Welcome to Episode #26 of the 90s State of Mind podcast - a collaborative project between 4ever in Electric Dreams and Blue-in-Green:RADIO. This podcast series sees Imran (London, UK) and Rhonda (California, USA) delve into some of their favourite releases from the 90s and for this episode, the pair celebrate the sophomore album release of Erykah Badu's 'Mama's Gun'. Released on November 18, 2000, by Motown Records, the album was largely recorded at the Electric Lady Studios in New York City with the Soulquarians at the project's helm. Spearheaded by the singles 'Bag Lady', 'Didn't Cha Know' and 'Cleva', Badu explored themes of love, self-worth and social equity across the album's 14 tracks. The album was certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America four weeks after release, denoting shipments of one million units in the US. 'Mama's Gun' became Badu's first top-10 hit on the US Billboard Hot 100 by peaking at number six, and earned two nominations at the 43rd Annual Grammy Awards (2001).
