African Women in Dialogue ‘My Story in My Voice’
Join us in conversation with the iconic Dr Beverly Ditsie who made history as the first openly lesbian African to address the United Nations about LGBTQI+ rights at the 1995 World Conference on Women in Beijing. Growing up in Soweto in the 80s, Beverly was immersed in the struggle against apartheid but knew racism was not the only fight, becoming one of the leading organisers of the first Pride march in Africa. Not only renowned for advocating for human rights for the Queer community, Beverly also holds a longstanding career in film. We get to know the person behind these feats. ---------------------------------------- Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy [https://acast.com/privacy] for more information.
