Beskrivelse

At St. Paul’s the first Lord’s Day in May is “Confirmation.” In this episode we talk about what confirmation is for Lutherans. We address the questions asked—and promises made—in confirmation. As listeners will hear, there is a deep connection between the third article of The Nicene Creed and Baptism. In the Nicene Creed we confess, “. . . And I believe in one holy Christian and apostolic Church, I acknowledge one Baptism for the remission of sins. . .” In the Rite of Confirmation, the pastor asks, “Do you this day in the presence of God and of this congregation acknowledge the gifts that God gave you in your Baptism?” What do those things mean? What do they have to do with one another? What are those being confirmed actually confessing and promising when they are confirmed? Recorded 29 April, 2026

Liturgy and Evangelism, a Conversation

Buckle up. This might be the most important episode we've recorded in three seasons of Christ In All Things. “’Liturgy and Evangelism,’ a Conversation” is deeply theological and personal for both pastors here. It’s about being lost and being found by Christ. The conversation flows from “Liturgy and Evangelism” by Dr. Kurt Marquardt (Please listen to the previous episode for the full reading of that essay.). We make application to the life of the Church in general and at St. Paul’s. We pray that reflecting on this essay will be as challenging—and as enlightening—for you as it was for the pastors involved here. We think you’ll hear that in spades. For the text of Dr. Marquardt’s essay, see “Liturgy and Evangelism” in Lutheran Worship: History and Practice (St. Louis, CPH, 1993) 58-76. Recorded 6 February, 2026
