Book Launch By Fintan Drury Coming To Clare

Alan Morrissey's guest today was broadcaster, journalist and activist Fintan Drury, whose new book, Genocide: Sponsoring the Destruction of Palestine, is being launched this week.   The book examines the war in Gaza and the wider conflict between Israel and Palestine, arguing that Western political, military and economic support enabled Israel's actions.   Fintan will be speaking at a Q&A event at Ennis Books within the next few weeks. Coastal Businesses Bask In Heatwave Boom

Good weather is great news for most of us, but for businesses along Ireland's coast, a spell of sunshine can make the difference between just getting by and having a really successful season.     As recent reports have highlighted, cafés, ice cream shops, activity providers and seaside businesses have seen a major boost whenever the sun shines, with many saying a busy few weeks can help pay the bills for the year.     This morning, Alan Morrissey was joined by two coastal business owners to hear how this recent spell of good weather has affected trade, the challenges that come with the seasonal rush, and what a sunny summer really means for businesses that depend on visitors; Carmel Connaire, of the Coffee Hatch on the prom, and Elaine Haugh Hayes, of Naughton's Yard and Naughton's Restaurant in Kilkee. Ennis Student Develops Life-Saving Cervical Screening Test

A student from Ennis has developed an innovative project aimed at making cervical screening more accessible, supportive and empowering for women.   REALA is an at-home cervical screening concept that combines a reusable screening device with a digital app offering clear, stigma-free information on cervical health, HPV and preventative care.   Designed as a final year project, it seeks to address the barriers that can leave many women feeling anxious, embarrassed or disconnected from the screening process.   Joining Alan Morrissey earlier to tell us more about the idea and the research behind it was its creator, Emilia Janik.
