episode 55: Why Does God Let Bad Things Happen? Faith, Suffering, and the Answer God Actually Gives cover

Beskrivelse

It is one of the oldest and most honest questions anyone can ask. Why does God let bad things happen? Why do good people suffer? Why does a God who claims to be loving allow pain, loss, injustice, and grief to exist in the world He created? If you have been asking that question lately, or if someone you love has been asking it, this episode is for you. In this episode of Coach Eve Radio, Coach Eve does not pretend to have all the answers. She is not a pastor and this is not a seminary lecture. But she has lived through enough loss and walked alongside enough people in pain to know that this question deserves a real, honest, thoughtful response rather than a pat answer or a bumper sticker verse.  She walks through several major frameworks Christians use to make sense of suffering, including free will, the refining nature of difficulty, the reality of spiritual warfare, and the mystery framework that acknowledges some things simply remain unanswered this side of heaven. She addresses the difference between how God is sometimes portrayed in the Old Testament versus the full revelation of His character through Jesus in the New Testament. She goes deep into the Book of Job and the moment at the end where God responds to Job, not with an explanation, but with a question that reframes everything. And she talks honestly about what to do when you are still in the middle of the question and not yet at peace with it. For first responders who see things on the job that make this question personal and urgent, this episode speaks directly to that experience. For anyone whose faith has been shaken by loss, injustice, or unanswered prayer, this is a safe and honest place to land.   If this episode helped you — share it with one person who needs to hear it. episode 54: You Have 10,950 Days - On Death, the Time We Have Left, and How to Actually Live the Life God Gave You cover

54: You Have 10,950 Days - On Death, the Time We Have Left, and How to Actually Live the Life God Gave You

If you have approximately 30 years left to live, that is 10,950 days. 1,564 weeks. 360 months. When you see it written out like that, something shifts. Not in a morbid way. In a clarifying way. Because most of us are living like we have unlimited time, rushing past our days, distracted by what social media says we should be accomplishing, numbing ourselves with busyness, and rarely stopping long enough to ask the only question that actually matters: what am I doing with the time I have been given? In this episode of Coach Eve Radio, Coach Eve gets deeply personal about her lifelong relationship with death and loss. From the girl in her second grade class who had cancer, to the grandparents and family members she has said goodbye to across a lifetime, to her father seven years ago, to Adam, a spiritual brother whose death hit her in a way she did not see coming, Eve has been living alongside grief since childhood. And what that has given her is not fear of death. It is a clarity about life that most people do not find until they are forced to. This episode covers what it means to hold the reality of death without being consumed by it, why every loss hits differently and what that teaches us, what the Bible actually says about time and eternity and living with intention, and what it looks like to stop performing a life and start actually inhabiting one. It references Judith Valente's book How to Be, a dialogue between a journalist and a Trappist monk on living, dying, purpose, and faith, and anchors everything in the truth that this world is not our permanent address. This is not a dark episode. It is one of the most honest and life-giving conversations Coach Eve has had on this show. If this episode helped you — share it with one person who needs to hear it. episode 53: The Free Mental Health Benefit You're Probably Not Using cover

53: The Free Mental Health Benefit You're Probably Not Using

Most people have access to free, confidential mental health support through their employer and have absolutely no idea how to use it — or what it actually covers. In this episode of Coach Eve Radio, Coach Eve breaks down Employee Assistance Programs from the ground up. What they are, who offers them, what services they typically include, how the confidentiality actually works — and critically, where the limits of that confidentiality are so you are never caught off guard. She also covers how to navigate the system effectively, how to find a clinician who is actually qualified to help with what you are dealing with, and why most people who try EAP once and never go back made one fixable mistake. For first responders, this episode is especially relevant. The fire service and law enforcement communities have some of the highest rates of mental health need and some of the lowest rates of help-seeking behavior — often because people do not know what is available, do not trust that it is truly confidential, or do not know how to find someone who actually understands their world. This episode addresses all of it. Whether you have been sitting on a problem for months, are supporting someone who needs help, or just want to understand what you are actually entitled to through your job — this episode is practical, accurate, and genuinely useful.   If this episode helped you — share it with one person who needs to hear it. episode 52: You Forgot How to Enjoy Your Life-Rediscover Who You Are Outside of Work cover

52: You Forgot How to Enjoy Your Life-Rediscover Who You Are Outside of Work

When is the last time you did something just because it made you happy? Not because it was productive. Not because it counted as exercise or self-improvement or checked a box. Just because it felt good to be alive and doing it. If you are struggling to answer that question — this episode is for you. In this episode of Coach Eve Radio, Coach Eve gets personal about what happens when we lose ourselves — in our work, in our relationships, in the scroll, in the grind — and forget that joy was not a luxury we were supposed to earn. It was woven into the way we were made. She talks about her husband's season of quiet darkness and how a conversation about Legos — actual Legos — became the beginning of something that changed his mental health more than any protocol did. She talks about rediscovering roller skating as an adult and what it felt like to do something purely for the delight of it. And she talks about what the fire service does to people who let the job become their entire identity — and what happens when the job is over or a relationship ends and there is nothing left underneath it. This episode covers the psychology of joy and why we stop pursuing it, the neuroscience of play and what it does for the brain and nervous system, what the Bible actually says about delight and rest and enjoyment, and the practical steps to start finding your way back to a life that feels like yours again. If this episode helped you — share it with one person who needs to hear it. That is the best thing you can do for this show.
