Crime in the Ozarks
Late into the night on October 12th, 1990, Daisy Manufacturing CEO Richard Daniel returned home to Rogers after a business trip to Chicago. The house was quiet. He called out for his wife, Jane. No answer. As he searched room by room, he found no sign of her. Then he made his way to the basement, where he discovered something that would shock Northwest Arkansas and set off a murder investigation that still echoes more than three decades later. The man convicted of killing Jane Daniel was sentenced to death and has spent more than 30 years on Arkansas’ death row. Yet despite the sentence, the state has not carried out an execution since 2017. Now, some are urging Arkansas leaders to restart the process… and they say Jane Daniel’s murder should be among the first considered. This is Crime in the Ozarks: A Burglary, a murder, and more than 30 years on Arkansas Death Row. ⚠️ Content Warning: This episode contains discussions of murder and violence.
