When You Cannot Face the Wind

The Apostle Paul was a Roman prisoner scheduled to stand trial before Caesar. He was being transported to Rome by cargo ship and escorted by Roman soldiers. Soon after they left the shore, the vessel was caught in a northeaster, a terrible storm. The wind was so strong they could not face it or navigate away from it. Enemy At The Gates

Strangers came into the Israelite camp and said they had traveled from a distant land to make a peace covenant with them. The travelers had intentionally dressed in ragged clothing. They carried old supplies like stale bread and cracked wineskins to deceive the Israelites. Empty Jars

A widow was drowning in debt and about to lose her two sons to a creditor. She had one small jar of oil and no idea what to do next. Elisha didn't take up a collection or call in a favor. He asked what she had, then told her to go get empty jars — as many as she could find. The oil kept pouring until the jars ran out. God gave her a blank check and let her faith determine how far it went. He has been doing that since Genesis. He rarely starts from nothing. He starts from what's already in your hand. Cuts Like A Knife

Jesus took our sin away on the cross, and He suffered for it so that we would not have to, but other things that He went through while on Earth were an example for us.
