Are you present in the room?

I had one of those moments today, a couple walk, jog or run past our home every day from spring to autumn. However, they're never talking with each other, they always have their faces buried in their cell phones. It got me thinking, why go for a walk, jog or run with someone if you're not really doing it with them? It looks wrong, so is this a moment to address my own cell phone usage?

Sorry kids, the batteries are flat.

There cannot be a parent on this planet who hasn't done the "oh no" the batteries are flat act to their child. Why? because even the most amazing toys with sound become annoying. The children get over the lack of sound and continue to use their imagination. Does that make me a bad parent?
