Epic Times, Epic Measures
Emily McLean is a graduate student in the Environmental Studies program at Dalhousie University. In this episode of Epic Times, Epic Measures, Emily sits down for a conversation about the work of researching and rescuing bee species. We unravel the remarkable social lives of bees, the ways they communicate and collaborate, and their central importance to creating healthy, vibrant ecosystems. Emily also talks about the wonderful work she's been involved in as an organizer of local Pollinator Week [https://www.halifax.ca/parks-recreation/parks-trails-gardens/naturalization/pollinator-week] events this year. It's a special one, since the Halifax Regional Municipality is celebrating becoming a Bee City at the beginning of 2026. There are many misconceptions and fears that folks have about bees. Listen close and you can sense Emily's obvious passion about these misunderstood but massively important insects.
