The male gaze gets a lot of criticism these days. But seeking beauty is not wrong. It’s not wrong for men to gaze at the sensual form of a woman. It’s also not wrong for a woman to enjoy being seen as beautiful and desirable. It’s completely natural and utterly human. It’s the erotic design of the universe. Beauty is a portal into luminosity. Beauty and desire are fundamental ways that we experience love, pleasure and joy in sacred and holy ways. What if the problem isn’t the male gaze but the distorted way that patriarchy has taught men to look? What if most men simply haven’t been shown how to look at a woman as if she is the beloved? Rather than an object to be fucked, or a collection of angles to be filmed and masturbated over, the body of a woman is a living being of great cosmic depth, of creation, mystery, beauty and wisdom.
