#012 Jimmy Steele — Planting and Revitalizing in San Diego

He is a Georgia native who moved to Seminary in his late twenties. But, not because he thought he'd ever be a pastor. Well, God had a different idea, and today, like 12 years later Dr. Jimmy Steele is a 3-time graduate of that seminary and a pastor, church planter, and church planting leader among Southern Baptists in San Diego, and Nationally as part of the Pillar Network, based in Raleigh, NC. And he didn't just plant a new church, he planted that new church with a core-team that had to move their whole families, their whole lives to California to be part of a revitalization of an old, declining church. And by God's grace, they lived to tell about here. Jimmy is married to Julie. They have four kids, and a thriving church family called the Hill Church in the hills of La Mesa in greater San Diego. God pulled him out a garbage can, literally. He was just a new-born when the Lord used a pastor / missionary and his wife to rescue him, and to adopt him as their own. #009 Dan Pokharel — Following Christ from Nepal to the U.S. and Back

He grew up in Nepal with 33 million Hindu gods. Little g, false gods. At age 20, he met Jesus Christ, the One True God. And that changed everything for him. His name is Dr. Dan Pokharel, and he is a pastor, church planter, missionary, and the executive director of Global Mission Nepal based in Charlotte, NC. More recently he founded the National Baptist Convention of Nepal as the first denominational organization of its kind in country that only received the Gospel of Christ in the 1950s. It was fifty years later, in the early 2000s that Dan came to US as a young Christian to study and prepare for ministry, thinking he would go back to Nepal. But God had other ideas, and Pastor Dan has been planting Nepali-speaking churches in Texas, in Boston and New England, Charlotte and Nepal ever since. In fact, since 2013, he has led Global Mission Nepal to plant 167 churches across the entire country. He heard the Great Commission as a command. So he just did what Jesus said: "Go, therefore, and make disciples." And for Dr. Bob Magruder, he's been doing it for 40 years since, as a pastor in just about every role you can imagine, and now, in a new role as the full-time Executive Director of Multiplying Culture Ministries. He is co-author of Multiplying: Creating a Culture of Disciple-Makers, which he wrote with his wife Barbie. He is a discipleship coach. He is a mentor for leaders who want to make disciples. He is also discipling men. Always has.
