Suffering, then glory, is the necessary pattern for our lives because this was the pattern of Christ’s life. When we choose joy in the midst of suffering as Jesus did, our faith is revealed and our faith is refined. Because we love and trust Jesus, our confident expectation of sharing in His future glory carries us triumphantly through the greatest of life’s challenges.

Our Hope is Secure

Our hope is not in this life. In fact, to the degree that we set our hope on any of the empty promises of this world, we will be disappointed. Our hope, our confident and eager expectation, rests in the everlasting inheritance promised to us by God and protected by Him forever.

So, from time to time, we need to stop and re-orient our lives around these timeless truths – we exist to love God with all our heart, soul, mind and strength, and we exist to help others do the same.
