Heart Open ConversAsians

Heart Open ConversAsians

Podkast av Lilian Wee

A thoughtfully curated space where intentional and honest conversations are had and held for and with a community I hold near and dear to my heart: the Asian collective. Every month, you’ll hear a guest join me in conversation, followed by a solo episode in the same month where I share and weave in my reflections and learnings from that conversation. Together, we’ll exchange stories of our uniquely hard yet beautiful lives, our journeys, learned experiences and lessons, with the hope that it will encourage and empower you to live out your one precious yet nuanced life that is most true and most YOU. I’m that friend you can count on as we walk together on this journey to learn to embrace and make space for all parts of us. You’re welcome here.

Send us a text [https://www.buzzsprout.com/twilio/text_messages/1452700/open_sms] In this finale episode, I did a synopsis of each episode with each and every one of the wonderful guests, friends, and ally who have joined me this season. Each of these stories and life journeys has helped me look at mine with more curiosity and empathy, elements that we can all use more of as we walk and carve our own unique and beautiful paths. To all my listeners, avid and new, THANK YOU. There is no pod without you. Your time and support have been the greatest gift that I will cherish and use it to nourish my soul whenever my creative soul gets weary.  I've not stopped enjoying this platform and already looking forward to returning with more. I hope to see you return as we do this beautiful yet hard thing we call life, together. Send us a text [https://www.buzzsprout.com/twilio/text_messages/1452700/open_sms] Hi, dearest ones. I know many of us are still processing some really hard and difficult emotions while still reeling from the results of the Presidential Elections here in the US earlier this week. I'm here to make space for that, to share with you how lonely and isolated it had me feeling, and offer up some suggestions of what you can consider doing to channel these emotions in a healthy, helpful, and meaningful way. You're not alone in this fight. I'm holding you in love and community.  Support the show [https://www.buymeacoffee.com/heartopen] If you love the show, it'll be so appreciated if you could take a few moments to do the following: * Rate and Review the show via Apple Podcasts or via https://ratethispodcast.com/hocpodcast [https://ratethispodcast.com/hocpodcast] * Sharing the show or a specific episode with your treasured circles; you may be extending just the support they need by doing so * Share/Repost an episode on your Stories and tag me on Instagram @ heartopenconvers_asians. I reckoned there are others of you out there who're doing this hard thing of figuring and knowing and getting it, so I decided to say more about it in this safe space and community curated and made possible because of you lovely souls.  This one was real and raw for me and I'd like to appreciate you already for making space for it. To the ones around you who are holding up the sky together with you, may you have them, know them, appreciate them.  Lots of love. Rita Lim-Solhaug: On Mum Life and Creating Communities Through Her Love For Cooking

Send us a text [https://www.buzzsprout.com/twilio/text_messages/1452700/open_sms] Rita Lim-Solhaug is a globetrotter whose journey from Singapore to Norway in 2010 with her husband, Gisle, and their younger son, Gregory, sparked an evolving love for food and cultural exchange.  Her immigrant journey later saw her moving to Florida followed by Texas, where she continues to bring her love for good and people together through volunteering with groups supporting other immigrants, mummy groups and eventually a cooking club which became her anchor and support system. As she beautifully puts it: “In a foreign land, these friends became our family.” Living across diverse cultures has deepened her understanding of food, inspiring her to enhance her cooking skills. She delights in sharing Singaporean cuisine with friends, weaving tales about the rich food culture and the stories behind each dish.  In this wholesome and relatable conversation we shared, we discussed:   * Rita’s love for cooking and her favorite dish  * How cooking became her respite as she navigated through the early days of migrating across continents for her young family * The moments when her love for cooking became bigger than herself and morphed into cnnections, friendships and communities  * A simple and accessible advice for those of you who are considering or are contemplating an immigrant path in your future I hope you’ll enjoy this one as much as I did having it! Jess Goh: On Art As a Way of Life, Accepting Help, and Evolving Friendships

Send us a text [https://www.buzzsprout.com/twilio/text_messages/1452700/open_sms] On today’s episode, I'm joined by a fellow Singaporean, one who claims herself to be "a very normal human and mama", but yet, there's something about the way she discussed and processed the things we touched on in our conversation that I saw a unique sparkle of a spirit alongside a healthy dose of stoicism that intrigued me.  Jess Goh Wee Teng is an art and crafts explorer who finds inner peace through creative expression.  For Jess, art is more than a hobby; it’s a way of life that brings balance and deeper connections.  Since 2017, she has inspired others through workshops that emphasize being present and engaged in the artistic process. Featured on MediaCorp’s “Get Fit with Me,” Jess also shares her passion as a music and movement educator. We discussed:   * Her love for art and how art led her to finding a community of like-minded artists and freelance work as an art instructor getting to do what she loves often * What maintaining a loving and healthy marriage where there is physical distance involved taught her about life, choices and, friendships  * Concepts of accepting help and how different friendships can serve as our lifeline throughout different stages of our lives  I hope you’ll enjoy this conversation as much as I did having it. Liker at det er både Podcaster (godt utvalg) og lydbøker i samme app, pluss at man kan holde Podcaster og lydbøker atskilt i biblioteket.
Bra app. Oversiktlig og ryddig. MYE bra innhold⭐️⭐️⭐️
