Iran says it will continue striking targets across the Middle East for as long as the United States attacks the Islamic Republic, while the Houthis insist they will maintain their blockade of Saudi-linked shipping. Regional diplomats are warning that hopes of de-escalation are fading fast. Meanwhile, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio says the price Iran pays for escalating the conflict will increase every night until the regime “comes to its senses.” Speaking at the ASEAN Regional Forum, Rubio claimed Tehran is once again seeking a deal with Washington but warned the Trump administration no longer trusts Iran to honour any agreement after repeated violations. Thousands of Jewish worshippers have ascended the Temple Mount on Tisha B’Av, with more than a dozen people detained for praying at the site despite longstanding restrictions under the status quo governing the holy site. And the Pacific island nation of Nauru has announced it will open an embassy in Jerusalem, becoming the ninth country to establish an embassy in Israel’s capital.
