Ivy EdTalk
For Episode 7 of Ivy EdTalk, we are thrilled to welcome Amra Alam, Karachi-based children’s writer who has authored over 80 storybooks in Urdu for children of all ages and recipient of the Anita Ghulam Ali award. She has also written and translated many stories for publication in India, many of which have been further translated into various regional languages. Ms Alam was the founder and chief editor of Santara, a magazine for children in Urdu - published from 2006-12. Later, she edited the children’s magazine Uran Tashtari or Flying Saucer which was published from the platform of the Children’s Literature Festival. Join us as we discuss children's literature from Pakistan and why it needs care and attention, and how the teaching of the Urdu language needs to evolve in order for our mother tongue to be successfully passed on to the next generation.
