Bible Study | Don’t Lose Heart | The Strength of a Christian Man | 2 Corinthians 4

How can a Christian man remain faithful when he feels afflicted, discouraged, confused, rejected, or worn down? In this Kingdom Brotherhood Bible study, we read and break down the entire fourth chapter of 2 Corinthians—one of the most powerful passages in the New Testament about perseverance, weakness, spiritual endurance, and keeping an eternal perspective. The apostle Paul experienced persecution, opposition, suffering, physical weakness, and intense pressure. Yet throughout this chapter, he repeatedly returns to one clear declaration: “We do not lose heart.” Paul does not present Christian strength as pretending that pain does not exist. He presents strength as continuing to trust God when life is difficult, depending upon the power of Jesus Christ rather than ourselves, and fixing our attention on what is eternal rather than only what can currently be seen. Paul writes that believers may be: • afflicted, but not crushed; • perplexed, but not despairing; • persecuted, but not forsaken; • struck down, but not destroyed. This chapter teaches us that weakness does not disqualify us. Our limitations can become the very place where the power, grace, endurance, and life of Jesus Christ are displayed most clearly. Do not lose heart — 2 Corinthians 4:16–18 Although the outer person may be wasting away, the inner person can be renewed day by day. Paul reminds us that present affliction is temporary, but the glory prepared for those who belong to Christ is eternal.
