My Honest and Sober Message to Fellow Nigerians: We Must Get This Right! Our Mumu Don Do!

Some Nigerians, assume wrongly, that "out-of-sight-out-of-mind" goes for Nigerians in diaspora. They feel we do not feel their pains. From my personal experience, I can tell you nothing is more further from the truth. It is difficult to forget the land of your birth. It is even more frustrating when despite our suffering and pain we still make puerile decisions. Things are bad, you say; Things can get far worse, I must add. We are amassing debt with little to show for it. Those have to be repaid. China is not known to handle excuses well; and they are waiting. We can't afford to get this election wrong. We no longer have the luxury of "trial-and-error". Our insanity is over. Our mumu don do. Period.

It is difficult engaging in a discussion on American Exceptionalism, especially as an Immigrant. The immediate response is usually: "Well, if you don't like it here, go back where you came from..." Critique is NOT Dismissal. We all agree that we are not perfect, that is a good starting point. Now lets take some baby steps on these three fundamental issues: Health Care, Racisim, and Immigration.
