Send us Fan Mail [https://www.buzzsprout.com/2442306/fan_mail/new] Putting phones away for one meal sounds small until you see what it unlocks. We’re joined by Anita Magwood, program manager for Strengthening Families (SFP) with Community Action Partnership, and she breaks down how an evidence-based family skills program can help parents and kids reconnect, communicate, and handle conflict without losing each other in the noise of everyday life. We talk about the weekly flow, why starting with dinner matters, and how family coaches help parents practice skills that stick. We also zoom out to the bigger picture of community support across South Carolina’s PEEDEE region. Anita shares what Community Action Partnership (PD CAP) actually does, including Head Start, employment and training, LIHEAP utility assistance, rental help, emergency shelters, and nutrition meal support that reaches far beyond what most people expect. One of the most important takeaways: needing help after a loss of income can happen to anyone, and you shouldn’t miss the chance to reach out when support is available. Then we get into outreach that feels like legacy, not just giveaways: a community baby shower packed with education and connections, and a back to school bash built around encouragement, health checks, food, and a “Passport To Leadership” that stamps kids into purpose. We also reflect on the Clementa Pinckney Foundation and what servant leadership looks like on the ground, where the stairways to success are built one step at a time. If this conversation helps you, subscribe, share it with a friend, and leave us a review so more families can find these resources. Support the show [https://www.buzzsprout.com/2442306/support]
