In the spirit of Pan-Africanism, Leslie likes to spend her time identifying and teaching the ways in which African Americans have retained culture. Whether through food, fashion, grooming styles, spiritual practices, or language - the connections are there waiting to be unveiled and embodied. She studies Modern Languages at the University of Oxford and is the co-founder of PeriodLink. PeriodLink is a youth-run organisation that works alongside communities to generate sustainable solutions addressing the impact of menstruation on girls’ attendance and experience of girls in full time education. Thanks to the support of their donors and OrganiCup, they have been able to provide menstrual cups to hundreds of schoolgirls in rural Ghana, and they are currently working on a project to build water boreholes in Northern Ghana to allow farmers to regain their livelihoods, and for schoolgirls to be able effectively manage their periods. They are also launching a reusable-pad production startup that will be directed by young women in the community.
