But in French, Creve Coeur translates to “broken heart,” and thirty-five years ago, that translation became a brutal reality for the family of Elizabeth Mackintosh. Elizabeth was a brilliant, fiercely independent, and strong-willed 50-year-old nurse from the Scottish Highlands who moved across the world to attend the prestigious Covenant Theological Seminary. She was just weeks away from graduation when her life was violently cut short. On Monday, March 26, 1990, Elizabeth unlocked the campus chapel at 4:00 AM for her routine cleaning shift.
