You were brand new, once.

This poem is about my uncle Frankie who we sadly lost to cancer this day two years ago. I haven’t been able to capture him in a poem until now. I hope you enjoy.

I wrote this poem after a late night drive home. Every night there is a certain neighborhood cat who sits on the bridge over the river keeping watch over the crossing or looking for mice. This particular night there was a full moon and I was tortured with bad thoughts and depression. I wrote this and it helped.
