In Genesis 17, God renews his promises to Abraham and calls him to respond with faithful obedience. Although Abraham and Sarah seem far too old to have the promised son, God proves that nothing is impossible for him. This sermon explores the relationship between God’s grace and our response: we don’t obey in order to earn God’s promises, but because we have received them. The covenant sign of circumcision pointed to a heart devoted to God, and ultimately to Jesus Christ, through whom God’s promises are fulfilled.
