Surf Report for Jacksonville Florida
Good morning! Here's your Northeast Florida and Southeast Georgia surf zone forecast brought to you by the National Weather Service Jacksonville. Starting with today, we're looking at a typical early summer setup along the beaches from Fernandina down to the Georgia coast. Surf heights will be modest at one to two feet with a low rip current risk, though as always, be cautious around those jetties, groins, and piers where nasty rip currents can develop. The moderate thunderstorm potential means you'll want to keep an eye on the sky. We're expecting partly sunny skies with a decent chance of showers and thunderstorms rolling through. If you're heading out, plan to wrap up your beach time before the afternoon storms fire up. Water temperatures are pleasant, ranging from 80 to 85 degrees in the northeast Florida zone and 77 to 82 down in Georgia. Southwest winds will be light around ten miles per hour. Now, a word of caution about that sun. We're talking extreme UV index today, so slather on that sunscreen generously and reapply often. High temperatures will climb into the lower 90s, but the heat index is going to feel even hotter, potentially reaching up to 107 degrees. That's oppressive, folks. Tide-wise, expect low tides in the morning ranging from around 9 o'clock to just after, with high tides rolling in during the early afternoon. Tuesday is shaping up to be a scorcher. Thunderstorm potential drops to none, and we'll see mostly sunny to sunny skies across both zones. However, that also means the heat index climbs to a dangerous 113 degrees. The water temps remain comfortable in that 80 to 85 range for northeast Florida and 77 to 82 for Georgia. Surf stays small at one to two feet with low rip current risk. West winds stay light around ten miles per hour. Again, those low tides come around 10 in the morning with highs mid-afternoon. Looking ahead to the extended forecast, Wednesday through Friday maintain that pattern of small one to two foot surf. We'll see mostly sunny skies with a chance of showers and thunderstorms returning Wednesday through Friday. Highs hover around 90 degrees, and winds continue light out of varying directions. Bottom line: we're in that classic early summer pattern with small waves, intense heat, and afternoon thunderstorm potential. The rip current risk stays low, but always respect the ocean and those coastal structures. Get out there, stay hydrated, wear your sunscreen, and enjoy what Northeast Florida and Southeast Georgia beaches have to offer.
