Surf Report - San Francisco California
Good morning everyone, it's your Northern California surf forecast for Thursday and Friday, June 18th and 19th. A Beach Hazards Statement is in effect through Saturday morning at 5 AM, so definitely check with your local authorities on any potential beach closures before heading out. Let's start up north in Sonoma and Marin County. Thursday's looking pretty solid with six to ten foot surf and mostly cloudy skies. Temperatures will range from the mid 50s to upper 60s, with southeast winds at 9 miles per hour keeping things mellow. The water temperature data is missing from this forecast, but expect typical early summer conditions. High tide hits at 1:51 in the morning at 6.3 feet, followed by a minus 1.3 foot low around 8:47 AM. Another high tide comes in at 4:09 in the afternoon at 5.1 feet. Friday's bringing slightly smaller waves, ranging from 6 to 9 feet, with similar mostly cloudy conditions. Temperatures stay comparable and winds remain light out of the southeast. No thunderstorms are expected either day, so at least you won't have to dodge lightning bolts. Heading down to San Francisco and San Mateo County, the energy drops off a bit to five to eight feet Thursday. Water temps are a pleasant 58 to 59 degrees, perfect for an extended session without a hood. High temperature reaches 55 to 70 degrees with south winds around 9 miles per hour, bumping up to 11 by afternoon. Friday sees the swell ease further to four to seven feet, with water staying in that same comfortable range. Conditions remain mostly cloudy with light winds, making for a pretty pleasant beach day overall. Santa Cruz County is looking at four to seven foot waves Thursday with water around 57 degrees. Temperatures top out in the upper 50s to low 70s with south winds starting at 9 and picking up to 11 miles per hour. Low tide at 8:10 in the morning drops to minus 1.3 feet before a 4.1 foot high tide sets in around 3:12 in the afternoon. Friday's identical in terms of swell size, still four to seven feet, with slightly cooler air in the upper 50s to upper 60s. The wind shift to 11 miles per hour out of the south should provide some consistency. Finally, down in Monterey Bay and Big Sur, expect three to six foot waves both days with water temps around 59 degrees. Thursday's a bit windier with southwest winds starting at 5 miles per hour and ramping up to 12 by afternoon. Temperatures range from 59 to 69 degrees. Friday follows the same pattern with three to six foot surf and similar wind trends, staying between 9 and 12 miles per hour from the southwest. The tides are identical at both locations with a minus 1.3 foot low Thursday morning and minus 0.8 foot Friday morning, so plan your sessions accordingly. All areas are looking at mostly cloudy skies with only slight chances of rain, so the forecast is holding pretty stable. No thunderstorms expected anywhere along the coast either day. Remember that Beach Hazards Statement remains in effect, so stay aware of current conditions and heed any local warnings. Get out there and enjoy some solid June swell!
