Holy Skulls, Batman! I never thought I’d say the words I do in this episode. As someone who grew up in churches, worked in churches, and even got his M.Div, I never—EVER—thought I’d come to this conclusion. But yet, here we are, and I’m saying the quiet part out loud. OK, really just three—Dante, Augustine, and Ross. Dante the author of The Inferno, from which we get many images from our modern view of Hell. Augustine of Hippo (AKA St. Augustine) who wrote many books, including City of God, of which we get many references to how Heaven looks and how Hell looks. The way we Christians treat that book, it might as well be included in scripture. Ross is Alex Ross, famous comic book artist, who did the Mephisto drawing. It's done in parody, but the guy is a freaking legend.
