Beskrivelse

Just in time for the JOGC's new special issue, Editor-in-Chief Dr. Graeme Smith sits down with Dr. Jocelynn Cook and Paul Carr to discuss maternal mortality in Canada, and how they're working to reduce the risks for pregnant and post-partum women across the country. Dr. Jocelynn Cook is the Chief Scientific Officer for the SOGC. She has a PhD in Reproductive Physiology from the Medical University of South Carolina. Her professional career has focused on issues related to maternal-fetal medicine including substance abuse during pregnancy, preterm birth and maternal mortality. Paul Carr lost his wife during childbirth in 1994. Since then, he's been a dedicated advocate and fundraiser for preventing maternal deaths and improving women's health in Canada. He is the creator of the Kitty Carr Fund, which supports the development and implementation of strategies to reduce rates of maternal mortality and morbidity.
