But CAQH is no longer the nonprofit utility it once was. In January 2026, the organization converted from a nonprofit and became owned by a consortium of 12 of the nation's largest health plans, including UnitedHealth Group, Cigna, Aetna, Humana, Centene, Elevance Health, and several Blue Cross Blue Shield plans.
