On this episode, we continue our Mustangs Season of Celebration with our 2023 Mustangs Female Athlete of the Year Shona Branton. In only her second season with the Mustangs Branton had an outstanding year. She came into the OUA Championship looking to make an impact. She finished top of the podium in both the 50m & 100m Breaststroke, she also swam in the 4x50 & 4x100m relays where Western took silver medals, she went to the U SPORTS Championship and picked up a silver medal in the 50m Breaststroke & gold in the 100m Breaststroke.

S3 EP4 - 2025 Rookies of the Year

On this episode, we catch up with the inaugural winners of the Western Mustangs Rookie of the Year awards, Zea Wetzlaugk (Swimming) & Kohl Kletke (Men's Rugby). Both had outstanding seasons in 2024-25 and were recognized during the 2025 Mustangs Awards. Zea won a silver medal (50 Free) & bronze medal (100 Free) while also taking home silver medals with the Women's 4x100 Free Relay & Women's 4x50 Free Relay teams at the OUA Championship. She was also named OUA Women's Rookie of the Year. She also won bronze at the U SPORTS Championship in the Women's 50M Free. Kole led the OUA with 90 points, while starting in all six of Western's regular season games. He scored eight tries, kicked 22 converts, and two penalty goals in his rookie year. He was given OUA Rookie of the Year honours at the year end sport awards.
