Beskrivelse

Fáilte Welcome to The Village Oak Tree I’m your host, Terrance Ó Domhnaill. Thank you for joining me again this week. Today, I want to offer you a book review, along with a broader picture of what this book is about, and the current military culture behind the Trump-Miller immigration policy taking place everywhere in the country. So, gather round, sit you down somewhere comfortable for a bit while I try to paint a picture of a military culture in the United States going back decades that few realize has been going on right under your noses. episode The Real United States Stripped Bare for its 250th Anniversary cover

The Real United States Stripped Bare for its 250th Anniversary

Warning: There is a small amount of adult language in today’s podcast Fáilte Welcome to The Village Oak Tree I’m your host, Terrance Ó Domhnaill. Thank you for joining me again this week. I’m going to make this a short one because, for one, I’m very tired, and two, the Americans are celebrating their 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence. And as such, I don’t want to bring too much doom and gloom for them heading into the weekend. So, gather round, sit you down somewhere comfortable for a bit while I talk a little bit about why I don’t think the United States is so great nor are the people running it so exceptional. episode Book Review of Collateral Damage and American Exceptionalism Part two cover

Book Review of Collateral Damage and American Exceptionalism Part two

Warning: Adult language Fáilte Welcome to The Village Oak Tree I’m your host, Terrance Ó Domhnaill. Thank you for joining me again. I have another book review for you this week. This time, it’s a short book that means a lot to me and to all veterans of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. This is a good addition to my podcast topic from last week, about how spoiled Americans are, and in this case, it’s young soldiers. Then I found a news story on NPR about how Trump’s minions sent a memo out across the country promoting the institutionalization of disabled people like we used to do before we educated ourselves. So, gather round, sit you down somewhere comfortable for a bit to tell you about this book about how the American soldiers behaved in Iraq during the war years, and more. For more, come visit me at www.crann-na-beatha.com [http://www.crann-na-beatha.com] and see what else I have for you.

episode Irish Slavery and the Myth of American Exceptionalism cover

Irish Slavery and the Myth of American Exceptionalism

Fáilte Welcome to The Village Oak Tree I’m your host, Terrance Ó Domhnaill. Thank you for joining me again this week. I want talk about a couple of related and likely very controversial topics today that might upset a few people. Especially anyone who still believes in that myth of American exceptionalism. I don’t have any news stories to share this week, but I do have a couple of references I will add to the end in the written portion, along with a YouTube video from Lena Petrova. I do have one picture of an antique sign I will share with you that’s hanging on my office wall. It came from a shop in Boston, MA dated 1915 and has been passed down through my family for a couple of generations now. So, gather round, sit you down somewhere comfortable for a bit while I try to paint a picture of the Americans as they truly are, despite the hype around the world that’s been trying to tell us otherwise for decades. episode Will the American Cultural Divide be the End of the United States Soon? cover

Will the American Cultural Divide be the End of the United States Soon?

Fáilte Welcome to The Village Oak Tree I'm your host, Terrance Ó Domhnaill. Thank you for joining me again this week. To start, I want to try and address an elephant in the room. It's so hard to talk about anything positive these troubled days we find ourselves in without sounding like a podcast about kittens and puppies. Although some people would like that as a way to forget all of the doom and gloom around us everywhere. I'm not a bubbly writer. I don't do hearts and flowers or self-help shows, sorry. What I do talk about are all of the things that I worry about as a normal everyday American citizen. Things that I see and hear are the same things you see and hear. I'm just saying them out loud for all to hear. Right now, we're all worried about whether our grocery bills and the already high cost of living is going to get higher this year, with everything Trump is doing. I don't have any good answers either. What I do know, is that letting the oligarchs keep us divided when we need more than ever to work together, no matter our cultural differences or political beliefs, is a path to nowhere. So, gather round, sit you down somewhere comfortable for a bit while I bring you some stories about our economy, ICE, and where we need to get if we're going to save this country from those who would steal it from us.
