This Day in His-Story
On July 7, 1839, members of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles bore testimony before departing to serve missions in Great Britain. Despite severe persecution, illness, poverty, and the recent expulsion of the Saints from Missouri, the Apostles faithfully fulfilled the Lord's command to preach the restored gospel. Many left their families while suffering from malaria and traveled with very limited resources, trusting the Lord to provide for their needs. Their sacrifices led to remarkable missionary success throughout the British Isles, where thousands accepted the gospel and strengthened the growing Church, demonstrating the blessings that come through faith and obedience.
