Adam's Daily Bread
This is part of a year long reading of the Bible chronologically in a harmonized format. 1 Samuel 25:1-44 - Samuel dies and is buried; David moves to the wilderness of Paran and requests food from wealthy Nabal for his men who had protected Nabal's shepherds. - Nabal rudely refuses; Abigail wisely brings provisions to appease David, preventing bloodshed, then Nabal dies and David marries Abigail. Matthew 26:31-35 - Jesus warns the disciples they will all fall away that night as foretold in Scripture, but he will rise and meet them in Galilee. - Peter insists he will never deny Jesus even if it means death; Jesus predicts Peter will deny him three times before the rooster crows. Mark 14:27-31 - Jesus foretells the disciples will stumble and scatter like sheep when the shepherd is struck, yet he will go ahead to Galilee after rising. - Peter vows loyalty unto death; Jesus replies that Peter will deny him three times before the rooster crows twice. Luke 22:31-38 - Jesus tells Peter that Satan has asked to sift him like wheat, but Jesus has prayed for his faith to endure and strengthen his brothers. - Peter claims readiness for prison or death; Jesus predicts his triple denial before dawn, then instructs the disciples to prepare with swords as his arrest nears.
