Not My Will - Mark 6:14-29
In our last study in Mark 6:1-13 we looked at How Jesus returns to His home town of Nazareth and was not well received. Not even his own family received Him for who He was. Everyone remembered Him growing up, son of a carpenter, nothing special about Him outside of the fact that He was a pretty good kid, never caused or got into trouble. But here He is traveling around preaching the kingdom of God is at hand and people were being healed, delivered from demons, and all by this simple Jesus they all remembered. So they rejected Him for the most part and because of their lack of faith, there were only a few people that received anything from Him. We also saw Jesus begin to send out His disciples to various villages. They were empowered by the Holy Spirit to do miraculous works and were strictly commanded to go out on faith with no provisions. No food, money or extra clothes, just go knowing God would provide whatever they needed for their journeys. So the name of Jesus was spreading throughout the region. This week we will look at King Herod and John the Baptist.
