Jesus Christ is Coming Back (1Cor 15:24-28) | Ptr. Rein Arlegui, April 26 Everyday we see the destructive powers of evil. We feel helpless as the dragon roams and rages with fury. But this is only for a while. Jesus is coming back to rule and restore the kingdom by putting all of God’s enemies under his feet. We live in hope for the return of the King of kings. 1, Seek God's Righteousness v. 24 2. Share the Resurrection Hope vv. 25-26 3. Serve for God's Kingdom vv. 27-28 Jesus will come back to destroy evil, ensuring that no power stands against God. He will defeat death, giving us unshakable hope in the resurrection. And He will deliver the kingdom to the Father, so that God may be all in all. What hope does Christ's return give you in this time of uncertainty, and how can that hope lead you to trust Him more?

Jesus Christ Ascended on High (Hebrews 4:14-16) | Rev. Herman Moldez, April 12 Being human in the body is to live with mortality. We are weak and wounded. We are frail that we fail to please our Lord. They mystery of the spiritual life is Christ lives in our being by the Holy Spirit to live the power of Christ’s resurrection. Every day we are exposed to the many influences shaping our mind and heart to live. The advent of social media makes us vulnerable to follow worldly patterns instead of practicing the way of Christ. The constant challenge is a daily struggle with fleshly desire to resist the fruit of the Spirit to grow. Paul says, we don't need to feel helpless and desperate because Christ in his Spirit lives "in you" (Rom 8:9-11). We practice the resurrection not just by the power of the exalted Christ in heaven but more so by of the presence of Christ in our hearts. We live in eternity while on earthly journey contending with the reality of a broken world. Christ did not leave us. He comes, in his Spirit, to become the indwelling Lord Christ in our hearts, ruling all areas of life. Christ in his Spirit is also the Spirit of God the Father (9b- 10a). We need to move away from the circumferential living to the center, in the core of who we are to encounter the indwelling Christ. It means pursuing consequential life for eternity. Kingdom living is the interior life in Christ. We no longer live in the realm of the flesh to satisfy our bodily appetites but in the realm of the Spirit to nurture the inner life in the Spirit (9). We live the eternal life in the mortal body by the empowered life of the Spirit who raised Jesus from the dead (10-11). We live inside out by the presence and power of the Spirit. It is the evidence that we belong to Christ to all eternity (9). It is amazing that the transcendent Lord reigning in heaven is the immanent Lord residing in our hearts. What a pleasure and privilege to develop intimate love of Christ in our hearts. Deep spiritual formation of growing in the image of Christ grows in devotion of love to Christ for this is what develop the life of Christ in our being. James K. A. Smith says, "you are what you love" because "you become like what you love" (Dallas Willard). Let us stop living in the circumferential edges of consumerism to seek Christ in the center of our hearts to be consumed by his loving presence and lording power to change us. • What is your struggle not to live in the realm of the flesh but in the realm of the Spirit? • What have your learned about the power of "Christ lives in you? How will you let Christ rule all your life to be transformed inside out? • What do you long for an intimate love of Christ?

Jesus Christ Ascended on High (Hebrews 4:14-16) | Rev. Herman Moldez, April 12 Jesus Christ ascended into heaven to reign with God. He also serves as our Advocate to intercede on our behalf. Satan, the accuser, will make us doubt and discourage especially as we fail God. Jesus, knows being human to plead for God’s mercy and grace. Jesus died and rose again, then, "ascended into heaven", seated at the right of God, Heavenly Prince and High Priest forever (Heb 4:14-16). Jesus is alive in heaven to mediate heaven and earth as we limp in history. We don't just wait for heaven for we are now raised with Jesus in the heavenly realms to experience heavenly reality (Eph. 2:6). Jesus entered the holy presence as the Son of God (v. 14). Heaven is finally opened for us believers. Jesus is not missing in action but in active ministry beyond the visible into the invisible world to unite heaven and earth in our struggle with imperfect humanity. O, what a mystery to experience God's presence in our imperfection. Jesus became human, was tempted in every way, just as we are, but without sinning. We have an emphatic high priest to intercede on our behalf. We can be confident to persevere in suffering and find courage to face life's failure because Jesus fully understands our weakness. God listens to our confession without being judged with Jesus as our advocate for grace and mercy. The devil accuses us as unworthy, but Christ assures our worthiness by his blood. Therefore, we dare to draw near to meet the enthroned heavenly prince who sits on the throne of grace, ready to extend compassion not condemnation. We don't need to feel ashamed and afraid despite sinning to seek help in time of need in the realm of grace (v.16b). Prayer is the privilege of sinners. We live the resurrection of Jesus who ascended to heaven. Jesus Christ relates with our struggle as our high priest. We draw near in weakness into the very presence of God who welcomes by grace. Jesus Christ Has Risen (Luke 24:1-7) | Rev. Herman Moldez, April 5 Being a Christian is unique as we serve and worship the living, Savior. What is more important is not to explain the truth resurrection but to experience transformation in the risen life of Jesus. Jesus Christ appeared many times within 40 days to guide in continuing his work and his resurrection life. Luke 24:1-12 declares that Jesus has risen so that we can be alive to God- life. The evidence of Jesus' resurrection was greeted by the empty tomb (vv. 2-3) and validated by two men, presumably angels, as witnesses (v. 4 cf. Dt. 19:15). The skeptics argued that Jesus' body was stolen. However, how could the thieves have "rolled the stone away" (v.2), a sealed and heavily guarded tomb to prevent Jesus' body from being stolen (see Mt. 27:62-66). Resurrection is a historical fact, not a fiction. The event of Jesus' resurrection happened on the first day of the week (v.1). The Sabbath ended on the sixth day. Theologically, the resurrection ushers a new creation age. Something new has begun. Our sins are forgiven (1 Cor. 15:17) hope is assured for our resurrection and growth in becoming like Jesus (vv.15-16). Christ's resurrection has ushered a bright new world in the kingdom of God. The dark historical reality has been invaded by eternity. Heaven and earth have met in Christ's resurrection, a foretaste of the age to come. We are raised to be seated with Christ in the heavenly realms (Eph. 2:6). The spiritual life is the experience of Jesus' resurrection. We practice the resurrection life in community no matter how imperfect we are. We slowly die to fleshly self and discover the fullness of the Holy Spirit. The fruit of the risen life of Christ is more powerful than the forces of death. Like the women and Peter, we will "keep wondering" (vv. 4, 12) of what Jesus said that "he must be crucified but on the third day be raised again" (v.8). Let us ponder and pray to practice the resurrection life for the world to believe that Jesus is risen today!
