My Kind of Spooky
In 1858 construction started on one of the largest hand-cut stonemasonry buildings in the United States. Located in Weston, West Virginia, the building would remain occupied for its original use from October 1964 until May of 1994. Today it is open for historical and ghost tours after being sold at auction in 2007. Today we are talking about the West Virginia Hospital for the Insane, Weston State Hospital or as it is most commonly known, The Trans-Allegheny Lunatic Asylum. https://www.washingtonian.com/2018/10/25/i-spent-the-night-in-a-haunted-trans-allegheny-lunatic-asylum-and-i-still-cant-explain-what-i-saw/ [https://www.washingtonian.com/2018/10/25/i-spent-the-night-in-a-haunted-trans-allegheny-lunatic-asylum-and-i-still-cant-explain-what-i-saw/] https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trans-Allegheny_Lunatic_Asylum [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trans-Allegheny_Lunatic_Asylum] https://www.britannica.com/biography/Walter-Jackson-Freeman-II [https://www.britannica.com/biography/Walter-Jackson-Freeman-II] https://ghostwalks.com/articles/american-horror-story-doctor-real [https://ghostwalks.com/articles/american-horror-story-doctor-real] https://trans-alleghenylunaticasylum.com/dorothea-dix-2/ [https://trans-alleghenylunaticasylum.com/dorothea-dix-2/] https://gehsspartanshield.org/4568/features/trans-allegheny-asylum-ghost/ [https://gehsspartanshield.org/4568/features/trans-allegheny-asylum-ghost/]
