Her approach to both life and leadership is grounded in authenticity, resilience, and the power of human connection.   In my book review, I stated Special Forces is a memoir by Willow Paige Clerici. I read this book in time for Fragile X Syndrome month, which happens in July.   Willow is the mother of two boys with Fragile X Syndrome, and this memoir lets the reader look at what it is like to raise special needs children, navigate divorce and remarriage, handle a blended family, and fight for your children and as well as your own needs.   As I read, I stood in awe of what Willow did for her boys and how hard she fought to make sure they got what they needed in school. She also helped me see that someone with a named special need doesn't necessarily fit a mold. Both of her sons, despite having the same syndrome, needed different interventions at school and in the community. There isn't a one-size-fits-all solution.   But Willow didn't only focus on her sons. She also let us in on her own challenges and journey towards finding mental and physical health. I loved how she figured out how to live her faith, give herself grace, and find joy even in the midst of issues. My guest today on the Online for Authors podcast is Markya Biaggio, author of the book Margery and Me. Maryka is a former professor of psychology and practicing clinical psychologist. She began writing novels in her middle years, and she’s been writing up a storm since then. Now she’s an award-winning novelist specializing in historical fiction based on real people. She loves unearthing the stories of people overlooked by history and bringing them back to life—portraying their challenges and foibles and rekindling their emotional world. She lives in Portland, Oregon.   In my book review, I stated Margery and Me is a historical fiction by Maryka Biaggio. Mina Crandon to her friends - and Margery to the world - discovers she has an amazing ability. She can talk to the dead - specifically, her brother, Walter, who died in a train accident. Before long, she has captured the attention of some very famous people and organizations - some of whom believed in her spiritual abilities and some who did not. Her biggest opposition was Harry Houdini.   This story is told from the voice of Walter, and he doesn't hold back. It seems Margery isn't a prim and proper lady. Although married to a doctor, she loves to flirt and finds comfort in many of her male supporters. And Walter does his best to dissuade her from making a mess of things - or more of a mess than she's already made.   Can she really summon the dead? Do psychics really exist? What would you have decided back in the 1920s?   Maryka based this book on the true story of Margery Crandon, and I love how she finds people that history forgot! I loved The Gun Girl and the Tall Guy, and I loved Margery and Me, too! McLain is a wildlife crime thriller set in South Africa. And, without a doubt, it is a thriller that will keep you on the edge of your seat.   We meet Christian Bekker, who, as an almost 18-year-old, kills a poacher in self-defense. However, he's convicted of murder. To avoid prison time, he and his family are exiled and lose their family land. It's now two decades later, and Christian finds himself back in South Africa and in the middle of a conspiracy theory.   Was his trial rigged? Did someone illegally take the family land? Did his father stumble upon illegal wildlife exports? Did someone kill him for that knowledge? This book is fast-paced and will keep you guessing. Jake Fox was once a big-city lawyer, but due to personal issues, has chosen to work in the small town where he grew up. His hope? That he can just exist and heal. Instead, he finds himself at the center of a murder case in which the life of a young teen, Rose, hangs in the balance.   Like all towns everywhere, what you see at first isn't the whole story. And as Jake soon learns, there is far more going on in this sleepy little town that he would have ever thought - and the deception runs wide and deep. Everyone is suspect and no one is safe.   But Michael doesn't just concentrate on the action. He also delivers amazing characters who are far more than stereotypical - and their viewpoints help the reader see all sides of the issues at play.
