3 episodesOur second episode is the first of our two-part series that answers the question "Will VOD be the savior of anime movies?". In this episode, I explain the current situation of cinemas in the country as well as the current Video-on-demand landscape, both here and in the US. Next week, we will drive the point home why VOD services should also show anime movies. For the first episode of Dispatches: The Podcast, I want you to think "what if Hero TV survived its shutdown"? Hero TV went off the air in the midnight of February, 2018, leaving behind an era that created Filipino anime otakus, but also unmet plans for a digital portal. With ABS-CBN's situation in shambles since its FTA franchise was not renewed, how could Hero TV have survived if the corporate overlords did not think about shutting the channel down that year and survived? I make my assumptions in this episode. After much consternation, I am making my blog available on Audio through a podcast! In the tradition of radio commentaries, I am making a podcast version of "Red Mendoza's Dispatches" through a weekly podcast. This will be just an audio version of what I have written, basically, just reading out from the blog that I made, but because anything can happen, I may add some snippets that are not going to be available on the written post, but most of the time, it will stick to what I have written. I thought that making the podcast version of Dispatches not only makes my blog more accessible, but also honoring a time-honored tradition as well. Please listen to what will you expect, and there will be a short mention of what I am planning to write over the weekend! My blog is available at freedomstrikedispatches.wordpress.com [//freedomstrikedispatches.wordpress.com ]and you can email me at freedomstrike.phil+podcast2@gmail.com for your comments!
