Episode 5: Our “un-broke” future

The future is in our hands. To some degree at least. We recap the dream, the reality, and the tools we have to steer toward the direction we want. Rodney Payne, of Destination Think, leaves us with a big vision and perspective on what is achievable and how to get there. We’ve come a long way, and decided to end Season 1 and hit reset. Episode 4: Development and Tourism

Housing is the biggest crisis we face. We get a picture of what it's like to manage, buy & build properties in Revelstoke. Robyn Goldsmith of Tourism Revelstoke introduces us to the concept of destination management, with resident affordability being the top priority that a recent survey emphasized. Then we look back on the ground we've covered so far, to see what we can learn as a community.

Episode Three: Mountain towns are beautiful.  But when the word gets out, wealth moves in. Gloria Lui, author of How to Save a Ski Town, talks about gentrification. The divide leads to poverty and in our town, and poverty is often invisible.
