Acerca de Say It Here

Welcome to Say it Here - the podcast about building healthy relationships, one conversation at a time. Hosted by best-selling author, Corie Adjmi (The Marriage Box) and popular radio personality Judi Franco (New Jersey 101.5), this is a show that skips the small talk and digs into the conversations that matter. Whatever the topic, it’s safe to say it here. From digital age parenting, to addiction recovery, to trauma recovery and healing from shame, we’re not afraid to talk about it. Because healing and recovery happen one conversation at a time. So let's say it here. Say it Here is sponsored by Safe Parenting https://www.thesafefoundation.org/safe-parenting

Corie and Judi's Friendship: A Say it Here Podcast Journey

Today is a special day for the Say it Here Podcast, because it’s the last episode of Season 1! Judi and Corie are finishing off the season with a heartwarming episode that explains how they met as teenagers, the unique community they share and the emotional connection they found while navigating  complex feelings around family expectations. A lot of those expectations revolved around marriage, a theme Corie explored years later in her novel The Marriage Box [https://www.amazon.com/Marriage-Box-Novel-Corie-Adjmi/dp/1647420792]. It was actually through reading that novel the Judi reconnected with Corie about the Syrian community’s culture, the pressure to fit in, and the personal growth that comes from navigating a unique path that goes outside the norm. They also explain “Fish Elbe” (their favorite way to “Say it Here”) as “emptying the heart,” an emotional unloading that supports communication and emotional health from their Aleppo, Syria heritage.  As they prepare for Season 2 (Coming in fall 2026!), Judi and Corie acknowledge the “why” of their podcast - to host conversations that help others navigate trauma, shame, difficult relationships, and healthier habits by “saying it here.” Have a beautiful summer, listeners, and please share any thoughts or ideas for Season 2 in the comments! episode The Road to Redemption: Finding Self Love and Giving Back after Public Shame with Jim McGreevey artwork

The Road to Redemption: Finding Self Love and Giving Back after Public Shame with Jim McGreevey

Today on the Say it Here podcast, Judi Franco and Corie Adjmi interview former New Jersey Governor Jim McGreevey about personal growth, healing from shame, and embracing his second act after coming out as gay and publicly resigning in the midst of personal scandal.  McGreevey reflects on the struggles that existed for gay folks when he was growing up and how a lot (but not everything) has changed these days in our country. He describes finding purpose in public service through the New Jersey Reentry Corporation and supports people returning from jail, veterans with PTSD, people in addiction recovery, and domestic violence survivors. McGreevey explains the loss of agency and survival mentality in prison and is an advocate for rethinking incarceration with a focus on rehabilitation. Jim speaks candidly with Judi and Corie about embracing second chances, finding self love, and navigating complex feelings and modern masculinity through compassion, connection and giving back. Shedding the Lies We Tell Ourselves and Overcoming Shame with Geneen Roth

A famous ice princess once said, “Let it Go”, and best-selling author Geneen Roth would have to agree. Although her past self would have chosen to let go of pounds, wisdom and personal growth have led Geneen to realize that it’s the lies she was telling herself that needed to go if she ever hoped to recover from the disordered eating and emotional regression that were holding her back from the self love she deserved.     Today on Say it Here, Corie Adjmi and Judi Franco talk to Geneen about her new book, Love, Finally: Untangling the Knot Between Mothers, Daughters, and Food [https://www.penguinrandomhouse.com/books/762978/love-finally-by-geneen-roth/]. After enduring an abusive relationship with her mother throughout her childhood, Geneen found herself yo-yoing between anorexia and rapid weight gain.  But in releasing Diet culture narratives, addressing the emotional regression behind her hunger, and forgiving her mother, Geneen has found a way to recover from the internalized lies about herself and food that have been haunting her since childhood. She now chooses self love and care, which she now understands she has always deserved.  And if you too have suffered from disordered eating, diet culture lies, and the emotional regression that comes from a traumatic childhood, please clear a spot on your book shelf for Geneen’s cycle-breaking new book. Because you deserve to experience the peace of self love too.  Craving more connection?  Follow us on Instagram at @sayitherepodcast [https://www.instagram.com/sayitherepodcast/]   Wanna Know more about our sponsor, Safe Parenting?  Check out their website! https://www.thesafefoundation.org/safe-parenting  [https://www.thesafefoundation.org/safe-parenting]   Wanna fish elbe about the show? Leave us a review on Spotify or Apple Podcasts and tell us what you think :)   Wanna make our day? Leave us a 5 star rating or tell a friend about the show.

episode Transforming Toddlerhood: Empowering Parents to Change the Terrible Twos into Teachable Twos with Devon Kuntzman artwork

Transforming Toddlerhood: Empowering Parents to Change the Terrible Twos into Teachable Twos with Devon Kuntzman

Today on the Say it Here podcast, Judi Franco and Corie Adjmi interview toddler parenting expert and ICF-certified coach Devon Kuntzman about her book and program Transforming Toddlerhood and why “toddlerhood is terrible” is a myth. Devon explains toddlers’  limited impulse control, emotional regulation, and communication skills, while empowering parents to treat behavior as communication rather than just “bad behavior” needing punishment. She offers a new look at parenting young children by emphasizing connection, curiosity, clear limits, consistent follow-through, and skill-teaching (often after everyone calms down). Devon also warns against both authoritarian obedience-first parenting and overcorrecting into giving kids too much power in their relationships with their parents. And when it comes to struggling with public tantrums or potty-training snafus, she covers all of that too. If parenting through toddlerhood has been an uphill battle, this episode is for you! And remember - your kiddo is experiencing constant growth, but parenting is a journey of personal growth as well. Empowering parents is what Devon does best, so hit play for a much-needed morale boost.   Craving more connection? Because our children are not responsible for making us well; but they can be great motivators to begin the journey.    Listen to hear Dr. Koslowitz share ideas from her book Post-Traumatic Parenting and her cycle-breaking approach to trauma and healing.  Craving more connection?
