No, while that is notable and we reflect on the past year of the No Show-Cause Show, we are of course talking about the Sorsby decision that went down today. A Texas state judge has granted a temporary injunction in favor of Sorsby despite the damning evidence and the NCAA ruling him permanently ineligible. Aside from the foundational consequences of overruling established gambling policy for college sports (and essentially all American sports), this could be part of the final crumbling of the NCAA establishment. Elsewhere, the Texas softball team repeats, and we recap the Baseball action where just about all the tickets are punched for Omaha. Once again the Super Regionals delivered. For the FRI: we had a show-cause order issued in college football for tampering! But before you are surprised, consider who it is for and why it is not a power 4 institution. Finally, the NCAA made common-sense progress on the 5 for 5 rule, making adjustments to account for some sporting entities that were against the start of the window in the first iteration.

109: Moving a Week 0 Game, and Poking Holes in the Protect College Sports Act

Send us Fan Mail [https://www.buzzsprout.com/2508218/fan_mail/new] We revisit some scheduling items off the heels of last episode's theme; NC State and Virginia move their week 0 game out of Brazil, we take this as an opportunity for our Featured Rules Item as to what the current week 0 rules are. We also take a look at both the FBS 12-team playoff and 24-team FCS playoff and lament the ridiculous FBS lagtime between rounds. We then discuss the Protect College Sports Act. Some good, but mostly consistent frustration with how politicians are framing the argument. The SEC and Big Ten [https://x.com/SEC/status/2061930866507383180] have come out in opposition but also want to make changes suited to them. Finally, we take another look at our Spring Sports Update, there is a new national champion, a soon to tbe champion in Softball, and Super Regionals in Baseball.

Show-Cause Conversations: Mary Ellen Pethel

Send us Fan Mail [https://www.buzzsprout.com/2508218/fan_mail/new] On this edition of Show-Cause Conversations, we welcome on Dr. Mary Ellen Pethel, she is Associate Director and Professor of Global Honors at Belmont University in Nashville, TN.  She is also an author of two award winning books: Title IX, Pat Summitt, and Tennessee's Trailblazers: 50 Years, 50 Stories [https://www.amazon.com/Title-Pat-Summitt-Tennessees-Trailblazers/dp/1621907783], and her most recent book, Howdy! The Minnie Pearl Story [https://www.amazon.com/Howdy-Minnie-Pearl-Story-Charles/dp/B0DYNS18R8] have both won the Tennessee History Book Award. We will be focusing mainly on the Title IX book, individuals that helped make the huge strides along the way such as Pat Summitt, and college sports history around her town of Nashville. We go back through the history of Title IX itself, how it grew from a small blurb on a bill to the opportunities we see today for women in sports. It is great to hear the historical account of important college sports landmarks discussed from someone so well-versed on the subject.  Dr. Pethel is also the Executive Director of Nashville Sites, which provides tours of Nashville that are available from wherever you may be located. Check them out, here [https://nashvillesites.org/].

107: A MAC Cinderella NCAA Championship Run, and Congress Has A Bill For College Sports

Send us Fan Mail [https://www.buzzsprout.com/2508218/fan_mail/new] We have a new NCAA Champion and while notable, it is a team from the MAC making the semifinals of match play of women's golf that is getting the press. Men's Golf championship round starts this weekend, while Softball has reached the Women's College World Series.  The Baseball tournament starts this weekend also, and we take a look at some of the interesting regionals and which 2 or 3 seeds we could see pull an upset.  In our FRI, Pete Golding speaks on tampering, both implying he's been a victim of it, and not necessarily denying he was a participant this past offseason. Finally, Senators from both sides of the aisle have come up with the Protect College Sports Act, and there is some good and bad within it's initial language. We take a look at a few key points we noticed on initial review.
