I wrote West Wings in 2015, wanting to try my hand at a modern fable. Something simple on the surface, but carrying a small oddness underneath. When I first wrote this story in 2010, I was experimenting with something more classical: long notes of description, soft edges, a bit of romantic prose inspired by the music I grew up hearing at home. I wrote it to feel like Little Bear meets a chamber piece. Simple, calm, and strangely alive.
