The YLF Experience Podcast
In this livestream replay, I introduce a concept I've been thinking about a lot lately: body noise. Most people have heard the term food noise, especially as conversations around GLP-1 medications continue to grow. Food noise gives a name to the thoughts, emotions, guilt, anxiety, and mental chatter many people experience around food. But what happens when we take that same idea and apply it to how we see ourselves? Throughout this episode, I explore how body image, self-perception, and the stories we tell ourselves may be creating a different kind of noise. We talk about the evolution of the fitness industry, the shift from outcomes to habits to psychology, and why lasting change often requires looking deeper than nutrition plans and workout programs. I also discuss: • Why body image goes far beyond what you see in the mirror • The connection between food noise and body noise • How marketing and fitness culture have influenced self-perception • Why changing your body doesn't always change how you feel about yourself • The role of self-awareness in building a sustainable active lifestyle • How an inside/out approach can help reduce the mental tug of war so many people experience The goal isn't perfection. The goal is learning how to untangle your relationship with food, exercise, and yourself so you can build a lifestyle that feels sustainable and supportive for the long term. This conversation also serves as an introduction to this week's journal prompt theme as we continue unpacking the deeper emotional and psychological side of health, fitness, and body image.
