The Sacred Road: Grace, Belonging, and the Open Heart – June 29th, 2026

In this opening reflection from our La Verna Retreat, we enter the sacred landscape of St. Francis not as tourists, but as pilgrims: people learning how to walk through life with deeper awareness, humility, and openness to transformation. From a Gaudiya Vaishnava heart, we explore mystical Christianity as a sister tradition, allowing the life of St. Francis to illuminate the life of Sri Caitanya, and vice versa. Rather than approaching interfaith encounter as mere tolerance or polite comparison, we ask what it means to be genuinely changed by another tradition while becoming even more deeply rooted in our own. At the heart of this talk is the invitation to become an open pilgrim: one who walks not to earn love, but as one already loved. La Verna becomes a doorway into the larger pilgrimage of existence, where every place can become an altar, every moment a meeting with grace, and every relationship a preparation for eternal community.
