Western Australia Police have established a specialist illicit firearm team to combat the growing threat of 3D-printed and homemade weapons being manufactured in suburban homes across Perth. In 2025, officers seized 466 illegal firearms, with almost 200 of them privately made weapons. Recent raids have uncovered 3D-printed semi-automatic firearms, knuckle dusters, and manufacturing files, with offenders facing up to 14 years imprisonment for manufacturing illegal weapons.
