7News Just In
H5 bird flu has been detected in Perth for the first time, with a suspected case found in a dead migratory seabird at Mullaloo Beach. Authorities have increased beach patrols and are urging pet owners to keep animals away from wildlife, while a suspected case has also been reported north of Sydney. To date, there have been five confirmed H5 detections in Australia across Western Australia and South Australia, all in migratory seabirds, with no evidence of spread to local wildlife or poultry.
