A TIME OF INSPIRATION
This collection probes transcendence and immanence, showing art that confronts and escapes lived experience. It processes grief, fear, inherited trauma, and the absurdity of existing in the American South, where Black bodies are pressured to shed personhood to survive. Growing up in Louisiana, religion is depicted as both salvation and obedience offering hope while enabling suffering and subjugation The work explores seeking the divine within our bodies, histories, traumas, and country. Through electric blue skin, distorted figures, rusted surfaces and Dorian Gothic imagery, it traces the boundary between presence and disappearance as an act of endurance.
