Adam's Daily Bread
This is part of a year long reading of the Bible chronologically in a harmonized format. Psalms 133:1-3 - The psalm celebrates the beauty and blessing of unity among God's people. - It compares harmony to precious oil and dew, bringing God's commanded blessing of life forevermore. Psalms 106:1-48 - The psalmist praises God for His goodness and recounts Israel's repeated sins and rebellions. - Despite idolatry and disobedience in the wilderness and land, God remembers His covenant and delivers them. Matthew 27:57-60 - Joseph of Arimathea, a disciple, asks Pilate for Jesus' body and wraps it in clean linen. - He lays the body in his own new tomb and rolls a great stone across the entrance. Mark 15:42-46 - Joseph of Arimathea courageously requests Jesus' body from Pilate on Preparation Day. - He buys linen, takes down the body, wraps it, and places it in a rock-cut tomb. Luke 23:50-54 - Joseph, a good and upright council member who had not consented to the deed, requests the body. - He wraps Jesus in linen and lays him in a new rock tomb as Sabbath begins. John 19:31-37 - Jewish leaders ask Pilate to break the legs of the crucified to hasten death before Sabbath. - Soldiers pierce Jesus' side instead, fulfilling scripture as blood and water flow out.
